Vasque Debuts Hiking Collection for a New Generation

Red Wing, MN – July 19, 2010 – Vasque is continuing in their mission to provide thoughtfully designed, carefully built, trail ready footwear with the debut of new product collections for spring ’11 in the light hiking and backpacking categories. Unique materials, distinct designs and the right pricing structure were all key attributes to developing the next generation of Vasque hikers.

The new Scree collection offers mid- and low-height, high performance, light hiking footwear with Vasque’s proprietary waterproofing and Stealth™ Rubber outsole. Stealth Rubber is considered the stickiest rubber compound available, for confident footing on uncertain terrain, and is used in the Phantom non-marking formulation. A multi-density midsole offers supple heel and footbed cushioning, while women and men specific versions provide a secure and comfortable fit. The Scree collection will be priced at $120-$145.

The Taku GTX boot is a new addition to the athletically inspired Breeze line, the most successful hiking collection in Vasque history. It features classic heritage styling in a responsive lightweight design with oiled natural leather and classic coloration. Built upon an Arc Tempo last, with a women’s-specificlast in women’s sizing, dual density EVA footbed, molded EVA, molded rubber toe bumper and new Vibram® outsole, the Taku GTX will keep feet happy on long days. The SRP on the Taku GTX is $165.

When you want to cover a lot of trail, Vasque has created the Bitterroot GTX, the ultimate backpacking boot. The Bitterroot GTX builds on the top quality and comfort of the Wasatch boot design with a new Vasque Exclusive Vibram Summit outsole, a burlier design for maximum support while carrying heavy loads and new colors.  The exclusive three-part midsole/plate system blends optimal support and comfort.   The Bitterroot GTX will hit retail with a SRP of $190.
