Vasque International Trail Athlete Hiroko Suzuki was the top female to win the 16th annual Bishop High Sierra 100 km on May 16, 2009.

“It was so much fun,” said Suzuki. “For some reason, I did not suffer nor struggle during the race, and bit of a different feeling, like, I am so glad!”

Finishing with a time of 13:23:21, in her red mahogany Vasque Blur SL trail runners (for super light), Suzuki felt great! The 2nd generation Blur's light but supportive upper and cushioned yet stable midsole are built to go the distance and weigh in at a mere 10.2 oz.

“At first I was uneasy because of totally different race environment such as elevation, dry weather condition and desert heat. I felt at ease when I finished without any trouble,” said Suzuki. “I am just so appreciative of the people I met and for the environment and scenery I ran through,” said Suzuki.

The 16th Annual Bishop High Sierra Ultra-marathons benefited the Northern Inyo Hospital Foundation's equipment fund. They have donated over $72,000 to the fund.

Suzuki’s next big race is the Tour de Mont Blanc 166km scheduled for August 28, 2009.
