A new look for a new era of Public Relations
Much like the cobbler’s kid has no shoes, the PR agency doesn’t always share their own story as well as they share their clients’. After all, our clients’ needs always come first. But in 2019, we realized it was time for us to start sharing our story with our clients, and with those who are interested in learning more about what we do and how we can serve them. The best way to do that, at least from a first-impression standpoint, was to execute a complete overhaul of our website. So, in the fall of 2019, we began partnering with Asheville digital branding agency Status Forward to develop an all-new site for Darby Communications 2.0, as we like to call it.
A much bigger undertaking than we originally thought, working with a website company involved knowing a lot about your own company and the story you’re trying to tell. Who would have thought the website process would involve such deep, introspective thinking?! To jumpstart our creative process, we held a team brainstorm during which we collected words, thoughts, and imagery to create a vision board. This vision board not only told the Darby Communications 2.0 story, but also represented the colors and imagery we associated with our brand.
Once we collected these concepts and narrowed them down (and made a few word clouds just for fun), we shared them with the team at Status Forward so they could begin their magical website creation! But, we’re not sure if they knew exactly what they signed up for with our team of visionaries. Our team started sharing all sorts ideas and exact thoughts of how we wanted our site to look and work. Once they reeled us in a bit from some of our larger-than-life ideas (hey, we can get a little carried away during the brainstorming process), we were able to dial in the exact look and feel we wanted for our site—from the warm, inviting friend you’d want to grab a beer with after work home page, to the clean, crisp pages that focus on our services, to the concise case studies that show off the great work we’re doing for our clients.
And, of course, we had to write all of the copy for our site because hey, that’s in our DNA! We’re suckers for copywriting and content development…not to mention total Grammar Nerds™. Developing the copy for our site involved going in-depth on all of our services to best share how we can help clients grow both brand awareness and new customers through public relations, digital marketing, social media management, and more. We also took the opportunity to reflect back on our success stories for many of our clients and narrow down those that best share our expertise and exemplify the work we do for both smaller and larger brands.
All in all, this new website introduces a new era for Darby Communications, and we look forward to hearing what you think about our new look! While you’re here, be sure to sign up at the bottom of our homepage to receive our monthly newsletter with updates on the amazing work our team is up to!
