In March we welcomed our newest Account Coordinator, Jared Miller, to the team. Jared is currently based in Charleston, SC, where he cranks out PR pitches by day and runs a bike rickshaw business by night. Read on to learn more about him!
What clients will we find you working on at Darby Comm?
Ombraz, Jetboil, The Landmark Project, and Farm to Feet
Do you have any nicknames?
Not really. A select group of people all have their own individual nicknames for me: jarebear, j-rod, Jerry, Miller (my last name). None have stuck to a broader audience—I think I prefer it that way.

How do you like to unwind when you’re not at work?
Rock climbing is my favorite thing to do outside of work, though I’m not sure I would consider it to be calming. My desire to get better and the frequent failure rate create a rather upsetting environment. I don’t even know why I like it.
I like road biking to “unwind.” I’m naturally fit in the activity due to my side job as a bike taxi driver and I like the straight-up grind of it. I can turn my brain off and just pedal. I also love being outside and exploring cities—two things that come with the territory.

We’re giving you permission to brag here…what is one thing in your life that you’ve done that you are super proud of today?
I transferred schools twice and went through COVID during college and still graduated in 4 years. (Plus some summer courses.)
What’s a fun fact about you that most people wouldn’t know?
Most people know this about me but my go-to fun fact is that I was born in Hong Kong (I don’t remember it and I don’t speak Cantonese).

If you could have dinner with any historical figure or celebrity, who would it be and why?
Albert Camus, the father of Absurdism. I enjoy his idea that the universe is meaningless and the only way to live in spite of that fact is to accept it and be happy anyway. One must imagine Sisyphus happy—that guy. You know. The only thing is he spoke French. I’m trying to learn French but haven’t gotten very far.
What’s the best book, movie, or show you’ve enjoyed recently?
Severance. Boring answer, but I haven’t enjoyed a show this much since I first watched Lost as a child.
What’s an experience that is at the top of your bucket list?
I would love to do a big-wall multi-pitch route out west at some point. El Cap or something in Yosemite would be awesome. I have a long way to go before I can do something like that, though. I pretty much exclusively boulder right now.
Living abroad is also something I must do in my life. France would be cool. To help with French learning—you know.
Do you have a favorite piece of gear?
Unparallel Flagship. I have tried a lot of climbing shoes and I’m absolutely loving these at the moment.
What content creators do you enjoy following?
It might seem out of left field, but I love fashion influencers. This guy “omatsouza” on Instagram is my biggest style inspiration right now. His style is eclectic and colorful and he doesn’t rely on trends but he still pulls off beautiful designer pieces.
