Favorite thing about working at Darby Comm?
Our Stand Up Initiative. I love being able to provide PR support to our non-profits partners such as the American Alpine Club, Grand Staircase Escalante Partners and Bee City USA. Working with the Grand Staircase this summer on their #SaveGrandStaircase campaign to try and help save the 1.9 million acre national monument, felt like some of the most important work I’ve had the honor to be a part of to date.
Where can we find you while not in the office?
On my mat at the Asheville Community Yoga Center, catching live music at one of our awesome music venues in Asheville, or visiting family and friends out west.
Favorite piece of gear?
In the office, our Rollga foam roller. Got to get that myofascial release in the afternoon! At home, my Burton Sherlock snowboard.
Favorite outdoor activity for fall?
That’s easy. Hiking amongst our beautiful trees here in North Carolina!
Favorite spot in WNC?
I’m a newbie to WNC, so this frequently changes for me, but thanks to my colleague Julie Bacon’s recommendation Harper Falls!
If you could eat only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Spaetzle (German home-made egg noodles). My grandmother was the best cook I’ve ever known and I frequently make her spaetzle recipe at home!
What’s your next splurge purchase?
A new pair of Blundstones.
What are you jamming to on the headphones while in the office?
I’ve been really digging Feist’s new album, but since Tom Petty passed, I’ve been listening to a lot of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers this week. I also listen to KEXP Seattle “where the music matters” most days.
Who on the Darby team would you want to be stranded on an island with and why?
Pookie our office dog, because if I was between a rock and a hard place… (sorry Pookie!)
Interesting Fact Not Found on Your Resume:
I’m a citizen of three countries, the U.S., Canada and Germany.
This is a hard one. There are so many places I want to see, but for now I’ll say my dream vacation would be hanging out with some enlightened monks in Nepal.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
A wolverine. I lived in Alaska for a summer and happened upon two wolverines. Apparently it’s really rare to see two of them because they’re solo creatures, but it was mating season. Anyway after happening upon the wolverines, I had a dream I was running with a pack of them across the Great Plains. I love how fierce they are and the Wolverine is also my favorite X-Men character.
