The start of spring brought more than just showers and flowers here at Darby Comm. We welcomed three new clients, one new employee, and kicked off what’s shaping up to be a busy year of media events on behalf of our incredible brands.
New Clients
Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA)
The CRVA is the leader of Charlotte, NC’s leisure and hospitality industry and prioritizes the advancement of the visitor economy for the benefit of the region’s businesses and residents.
“The 2024 Olympics is certainly a hot topic right now and we are excited to collaborate with CRVA to highlight Charlotte’s Olympians and Paralympians in the 2024 Olympics. Charlotte boasts some of the top training spots for swimmers, paddlers, and runners and we know those going to Paris are proud to call the Queen City home!”

Gone birding! That’s been our new mantra since we kicked off services for FeatherSnap, a brand dedicated to revolutionizing the world of birdwatching and connecting people to nature through Wi-Fi enabled smart bird feeders.
“Birdwatching has become a popular hobby in my house over the past several years, so I jumped at the chance to work with FeatherSnap. Their feeders offer super high quality photos and videos, and the corresponding app incorporates next-level AI identification software trained by their in-house ornithologist, so you can really geek out on birding in a new way!”

Hosted by outdoor industry veteran Colin True and professional gear reviewer and outdoor journalist Justin Housman, Rock Fight is more than just another outdoor or adventure podcast; it’s a full-on rebellion for those inside and outside the outdoor industry. True and Housman offer an insider’s perspective, fostering a mix of unfiltered discussion and lighthearted banter about everything from trending news, gear, and environmental policies to fun, offbeat topics like the best layers for the ice planet Hoth.
“I’ve been listening to Rock Fight and have been a big fan for some time now so it’s super exciting that we get to work with the Rock Fight team. The media landscape is seeing so much change right now, bringing lots of opportunities for unconventional media outlets, like podcasts, to stand out. Rock Fight is funny, informative, and wildly entertaining. Plus, what goes better than outdoor gear and delicious craft beer?”

New Hire
We were thrilled to welcome Jessie LaMacchia to the Darby team in March as our newest Account Executive! You’ll find this seasoned pro bringing her immense creativity to PR, social media, and email marketing campaigns for RiverLink, Devil’s Foot Beverage Company, Farm to Feet, Nine Mile, and Wildwater.
Media Events
Q2 found members of the Darby team scattered in far-flung locations across the country for media events. We hit the beaches and forests of Cape May, New Jersey to scout migratory bird species with FeatherSnap and took off in helicopters for some hog hunting in rural Texas with the Tactacam crew. We also hosted our bi-annual media happy hour right here in Asheville – always a great chance to mingle with local and regional journalists. Up next, we’re gearing up for a busy summer and fall season filled with pre-ICAST fishing trips with Shimano, juggling media appointments at the ICAST trade show, working a gift guide-focused media showroom in NYC, showcasing multiple brands to media at the OMA Denver Media Show, and a fall backpacking media trip in our own backyard with Jetboil.
