Do you have any nicknames?
My name is actually a nickname (my full name is Jessica), but I’ve always felt like more of a Jessie.
How do you like to unwind when you’re off the clock?
You will most likely find me volleyballing (on grass or sand) but I love to get out for a hike at least once a week or meet a friend for a nice long walk.
We’re giving you permission to brag here…what is one thing in your life that you’ve done that you are super proud of today?
I solo traveled internationally for an entire year – it was one of the most rewarding things I have done for myself, from learning a new language, exploring some crazy rewarding hikes, and finding my partner + love of my life!
What are you listening to on repeat right now?
Avey Tare’s newest album “7’s”. I am a diehard Animal Collective fan and one of the founding members is a big part of the Asheville music community. I have been geeking out since I’ve moved here.
In a team full of dog owners, you’re representing the cat lovers out there. Tell us about your fur baby!
Vinny is my son! He is your quintessential orange cat – not much going on behind those eyes, desperately needy for attention, an absolute cuddle bug, and he knows how to work a room. He’s a charmer.
What’s an experience that is at the top of your bucket list?
I mention this only because I’ve felt the fomo for the first time this weekend. I want to go to Coachella. Just once!
You’ve been in Asheville for 1 year now – what is your favorite spot to get away from it all?
At any given time, you will most likely find me at Highland [Brewing], playing volleyball.
Asheville has no shortage of locally crafted brews, ciders, and N/A beverages. What is your beverage of choice?
Lately I’ve turned away from beer and keep ordering Ginger’s Revenge! I love their different brews and it helps that they are gluten-free. Not to plug my own client (I will anyway), but Devil’s Foot sodas have been my go-to option when I’m at the bar and don’t want to drink alcohol. The Dark & Stormy is amazing.
Do you have a favorite piece of gear?
My Salewa trail running shoes have been a game changer for me. I don’t know why it took me so long to buy actual trail runners. I knew something had to change after I hiked a 16-mile trail to Mt. Fitz Roy with steep elevation gain in a pair of Adidas street runners…not my proudest moment. (photo is attached of me and my partner finishing that trail!)
What content creators do you enjoy following?
I love cooking, eating, & finding recipe inspiration, so lately I’ve been keeping up with lots of folks’ solo careers after their Bon Appetit eras. Shout outs to Brad Leone, Molly Baz, Sohla El-Waylly & Claire Saffitz.
